Farewell PWC, Hello LoCo

We are FINALLY moving out of Prince William County! It's been an idea we have been throwing around for a few years but our current situation (being upside-down on our mortgage and not seeing the light at the end of the tunnel) had us feeling like a new house was just a dream. Wrong! After months of weighing all of our options for our current home versus a new home, meeting with multiple lenders and real estate agents, we found a house we love and we are set to close at the end of the month! There is going to be so much to do moving from this:
into a single family home! It will be a long process until everything is perfect, but I am looking forward to it. I already bought our first piece of artwork- a water color map from Etsy. I plan on putting it in our living room/sitting room area. Part of the reason that I picked this piece was because I can chose any color scheme for the room as far as furniture, rugs, accent pillows, etc.
This month will be full of packing and donating all of the stuff we don't use or don't want to bring, and next month will be full of unpacking and setting up our new home!

day drinking

At a brunch for my best friends birthday, someone said "day drinking is what happens when you turn 30."
I wasn't thrilled about turning 30. Is anyone? Truth is, it sounds a lot worse than it is. Really. I've had major milestones happen in my life since turning 30 and things keep getting better! I'm not going to look back on all the things I didn't do before the big 3-0, nor am I going to go into detail of all the happenings in my first 30 years of life. Instead I think I'll just try this blog thing ONE MORE TIME and chronicle my life after 30. After all, if day drinking is what happens once you turn 30, some of these posts might be quite entertaining :)

getting married is stressful. my emotions are all screwed up and the slightest thing just sets me off. mike and i have also fought more about this wedding than we ever have about anything else. his parents are the biggest issue still. his mom told him that the reason she was being so difficult was because she "missed their relationship" and she can't "take care of her little boy anymore." ok get over it, he is 30 years old and has been taking care of himself for the past 10 years. he also still had a good relationship with her until she went crazy on us. i still haven't seen his parents since easter sunday when they were so rude and deliberately trying to get at us. we were supposed to see them this weekend for mother's day but they canceled at the last minute to go to charlestown. apparently everything has been rescheduled to this coming weekend. we'll see.
we changed our menu again. asian food now! rice bowls with chicken or beef and veggies, dumplings and fortune cookies. we're paying homage to our honeymoon haha! i think it will be something different and fun and hopefully still tasty!
we also ordered our invites this week. i had a livingsocial coupon for $50 off and it somehow ended up almost doubling so for only $147 we got: invites and envelopes, rsvp cards and envelopes, thank you cards and envelopes, return address labels and a tote bag. not bad at all!
vacation next week. it's MUCH needed. the weather forecast doesn't look great but it will still be good to just get away for a while.

flyin' first class, up in the sky, poppin' champagne...

well at least the champagne part is true! look at what mike did for me this weekend!

he got us a killer deal this weekend at the ritz in charlotte and made everything perfect by this sweet gesture! i think the best part of the room was the tv in the bathroom mirror. i have to have one of these! i seriously need to stop getting the taste of the "good life" though- it's so addicting!
charlotte was a great time actually. i was dreading what i always dread when we go down to visit but everything ended up being great! we had such a great time. the epicentre in charlotte is awsome! i had never seen the area before and i think it might even be new. it was charming and i fell in love... as in i could see myself living there haha!
our whole point of going down was to get our wedding bands. i dropped the ball on mike when we were on our way down that i wanted 2 bands, one for the top and one for the bottom. i didn't think that he would go for it but he did and i am getting 2 bands that match the band of my engagement ring. we picked out a pattern for him that i love also. i can't really describe it except that it has a double cable pattern and it's white gold. much better than the paisley pattern he originally wanted! they should be here in 3-4 weeks. i can't wait!
